I haven't been up there in the North since the mid-80s, but while there, I was acutely aware of the element of White racism towards Native people, so if Leo Coleman was a target, I'm not too surprised. Southern Redneck culture was/is still alive there. Most of the old-timers have Dust Bowl and or Deep South roots, given all the accents I heard when there. Few California accents in comparison. I was reading how Mike Johnson, Anderson's Police Chief, wants to warehouse and incarcerate homeless locals. So backward, barbaric and disgusting -- like he makes no distinction between the criminals or homeless, just sees them as one and the same. Very Fascist and un - American of this Police Chief. Sorry- sad but true !
