Bethel Church and Redding Police Join Forces to Destroy Homeless Camps

Redding Olympic hopeful Ryan Hall's Bethel Church and Redding California Police join forces to destroy homeless camps, "cut high grass and low hanging branches" to drive them out of hiding.

Please listen to the Redding California police chief on KCNR Radio (starting about 1:10 minutes in)...about Bethel church, homeless encampments, and their civil and constitutional rights.

It is shocking.

Shocking for the fact that a huge Christian  Church is joining forces to help destroy homeless camp areas that they find refuge in. Why are we seeing so many homeless in the downtown area?  because this new police chief Robert Paoletti from Stockton has no compassion for the homeless and is forcing them out of their camps and into the streets, with many reports of their survival and personal possesions illegally thrown away.. If every city in California took his approach, where would the homeless go?

"Listen, my beloved brethren: Has God not chosen the poor of this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which He promised to those who love Him?   But you have dishonored the poor man. Do not the rich oppress you and drag you into the courts?   Do they not blaspheme that noble name by which you are called?"

James Chapter 2

Please Call Bethel Church
and register your complaint today !! (530) 246-6000

UPDATE -
7/18/2012 - I just received a return call about my complaint from a representative of Bethel Church saying that to join forces with Redding police and destroy homeless camps, "cut high grass and low hanging branches" to drive them out of hiding is
"doing their civic duty".

What happened to their duty to Christ ?

UPDATE - 7/22/2012 - Church joins war against the poor

Redding Coalition for the Homeless

UPDATE : 7/26/2012 -  Most folks come to Bethel Church and School of "Supernatural" Ministry from other Continents and Countries.

Do we really need foreigners coming into our country and community from New Zealand,  Australia, Saudi Arabia, etc... driving out American homeless and destroying their camps and basic survival shelters in our town?

Especially when Veterans make up one in four homeless people in the United States !!

Shame on local media for not bringing this to light.

Shame on Bethel, for what they are doing is not only Un Christian, but Un American as well...

Police and church relations are not a holy alliance.....as were the Pharisees in Jesus' day aligned with Roman power to destroy our Savior so is the church and state today. A Christian follows the example of Jesus....what would Jesus do? Beware of false Christs. God is LOVE.

wtf... as a christian it sickens me to see idiots being lead by idiots, WAKE UP MEMBERS OF BETHAL CHURCH YOUR BEING DUPE , fascism from the christian right only fuels the excuses given of evil Christians, i wish the members would open their minds to God And ask him if using the force of government to push your views is right.. as a christian i dont believe so

Reasons like this is why many people call Bethel a Cult. If I remember right, didn't this guy they (Bethel) call Jesus mostly live in the wilderness, without a home? I consider this a shame for any church that calls itself Christian.

It's because of people's actions like this, that I held a open a homeless campground demonstration at Redding City Hall a year ago. Bethel AND Redding Police should be ashamed of themselves. One guy I know in Redding that's homeless today, 20 years ago was a Redding Multi-Millionaire; and now to be treated like this........... Excuse me as I have to leave; as my stomach just turned.

I'm glad I no longer live in Redding.

You should post your email or a recording of your response otherwise it really is all hear say perhaps lies and assumptions on your part. Not the first time words have been swayed to spark controversy.

I think the radio interview and words of Redding Police Chief Rob Paoletti make quite clear what their ongoing intentions are, did you listen to the KCNR Radio interview link provided here ? No response from Bethel ??

" For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.”

I listened to the link the radio interview. It appears to link to an interview 7/12/12. They are talking about the weather at @ 1:10 minutes in. I skimmed through portions of the rest and don't hear an interview with the police chief.

Then you were not listening...

Families, Children, Veterans, everyone in this poor economy should have a safe place where they can go at night and sleep without fear and their civil and constitutional rights violated. That’s why we need "safe ground".

Redding California needs a safe “legalized” campground where homeless folks can have clean water, bathrooms, and trash services until Redding, Shasta County, and the State of California is willing and able to provide adequate shelters and affordable housing for the growing numbers of homeless folks free of homeless camping tickets, criminalization and evictions.

Don't Feed the trolls
lol
I listened to that show as I always try to do Free Fire Radio
Mr. Bott is mostly spot on being impartial to his guests, they do well enough to damage themselves.
The Redding police Chief did say that by law they had to tag the encampment first, giving the campers several days notice before discarding the campers possessions.

And don't even get me started on "Bethel"
obvious CULT is obvious.
peace out

First off, let me say that it is obvious you have an agenda and that you are very one sided in your reporting. Also the link you provided at the end about human bones being found in the camp does not help your argument at all. If anything it validates the actions the police are taking. What if a crime was committed and a person was murdered? What if someone's loved ones are wondering what happened to them? Also before you skewer Bethel church have you ever seen the good and help them have done for the poor in redding. Recently they just had an event where they handed out hundreds of backpacks full of school supplies for less privaledged kids. They have also had ongoing out reaches to the homeless providing meals on a weekly basis. Every year the members set out their best china and they buss in hundreds of families from in the redding area and have s huge feast for them during the holidays. I know this because for ten years my family set a table for people at the holiday feast. So do some actual fact digging and try and present both sides adequately before trying to represent yourself as a spokesperson for a group of people. Also who was it that you talked to at bethel, what is there name and job title? Is all they said was that if was their civic duty, or have you left out other information that would not serve your hatchet job of reporting? My name is devin and I'm not afraid to hide behind a moniker either.

First of all David you know nothing of the plight of Redding's homeless, because if you did you would know there is a homeless shelter crisis here, not a lack of food for them. Second there is a famine here in Redding, but not for bread :

"Behold, the days come, saith the Lord God, that I will send a famine in the land, not a a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord"

Amos 8

So if you and Bethel want to continue to call our new police chief a liar be my guest, its recorded for all the world to hear. And you nor the feather flying gold dusters dont impress me in the least by fattening up the poor and homeless here in Redding and Shasta County with your "best china" as you spiritually murder them by destroying any place they can find refuge in, and help the Redding Police Department criminalize homelessness. By the Way, does Bethel do that in Jesus Name ? Many people have requested Bethel to publicly refute their participation with Redding Police, to this day they still refuse...

How can any "Christian" church, that accepts Jesus, that himself was a homeless person, claim to be doing God's work, when they help the police destroy "poor people's" posessions and camp sites? Bethel does not know who are heavenly angels and who are humans. God warns about doing things against his heavenly angels. How do you (Bethel) know, if some of those homeless are God's angels, that are camping with the homeless?

BTW.... The former Police Chief told me that even if you are on property YOU OWN, if you camp outside 7 days or more, they can site you for illegal camping; and conficate your camping equipment. He told me this, when I told him that my grandkids were coming for two weeks; and that we were going to camp in our yard. The laws are getting too restrictive. I hope that God sends angels to camp with the homeless; as then when Jesus comes again, some police and Bethel people will have a lot of explaining to do. Don Kirk

I am quite glad they are working to get the homeless problem out of Redding. I hope they peacefully leave, for we have no desire for their presence here.

I personally hope all homeless bums get outta town. You suck, this blog sucks and your liberal agenda bullshit makes my head hurt. You do nothing that actually helps the homeless you just bitch, moan and fabricate allegations. I hope I see you someday "reporting"

Bethel is definitely a cult & many sheep in the Redding follow their false beliefs. Bethel even goes as far as blowing gold dust out of their ac vents to claim "god" had done it. These people are nuts. They come to Redding, drive up home prices - forcing people on the streets, only to destroy their camps in the name of god. I have personally seen these insane people rolling on the floor in public places to connect with their savior. They have been a plague on Shasta County
