Saint James Lutheran Church - They Will Know We Are Christians By Our Love

It was my absolute pleasure to attend Saint James Lutheran's open house, showcasing the plans for a tiny homeless shelter community. 

On the property behind their church, featured was one of the tiny homes already built that will accommodate 2 homeless individuals should the church board vote to go forward with this beautiful, long overdue, positive first step in alleviating homelessness in the city of Redding and Shasta County.

Saint James Lutheran has boldly and bravely accepted the challenge to be one of the first to demonstrate the Love of Jesus Christ and provide for the needs of the "least of the brethren."

Other churches and the City of Redding are soon to follow, with hopes of building other micro shelter communities in and around Redding.

With layers of supervision and accountability, it will certainly be a situation of a hand up, and not a handout. Providing homeless with the "first step of a ladder" to climbing out of the dreadful situation of being homeless.

And why not, the Holy Bible from one end to the other speaks of Gods desire that we should help the poor, and the rewards of that will reverberate through the city with the Blessings of God.

Oh, there were the naysayers, the NIMBY folks and immediate neighbors were quite unhappy and let their thoughts be known. And strangely enough even several folks from next stores Our Lady of Mercy Catholic church came by and voiced their concerns. Strangely still, the church secretary was concerned that these folks would come next store and consume all their donations from their food giveaways.

Of course, when Jesus Christ was freely giving of the loaves and fishes homelessness was not a barrier for their physical and spiritual needs, nor should it be for the church next store...

After all, we serve the same Jesus Christ, ... Don't we?

Homeless in Redding - Sacramento River Trail Community Clean Up 2013 World Homeless Action Day

Wonderful homeless advocates protested the destruction of Redding California homeless camps today during the worst economic recession since the Great Depression .
 

 

The protest was a World Homeless Action Day 2013 event.

A curiously small group of individuals attended the Community Creek Cleanup 2013 at the Sacramento River Trail, most of the work I am sure left undone.
 

 

Students from Bethel Church, Shasta and Foothill High Schools and others, the McConnell foundation, California Conservation Core, Redding Rotary, Redding Electric Utilities , R.E.U. and others destroyed homeless river trail survival camp and beautiful fishing areas during the Redding Shasta Community River Trail Clean Up 2013.

Sadly at least one of these was parked there today, and Monsanto's Round Up will most likely be applied in the next several days. Does City of Redding Monsanto herbicide spraying causing chaos with our local eagle population ?





What happens to homeless camping possessions confiscated by Redding Police Officer Bob Brannon ? Where does the City of Redding store their personal possessions ?

It looks like this particular Redding Sacramento "Community Creek Clean-up" now and in the future is going through Indian camping archaeological sites as well as a VERY sensitive turtle ponds. Just like the Henderson Open Space project heartlessly driving away the homeless, destroying important vegetative cover for riparian wildlife, City of Redding / Rotary Randy Smith spraying Monsanto's Round Up and contributing to global warming.

Ask Community Services Director for the City of Redding if consideration was given to the displaced homeless during the 2013 Sacramento River Trail Community Creek Clean up day.

 



Human Bones Found in Redding Henderson Open Space Homeless Camp Area

In an area easily accessible to a car or truck at the end of Henderson Road, Redding California Police Sgt. Al Mellon reported Human bones were found 7/25/2012 as police and others were working cleanup of the Henderson Open Space area , south of the Cypress Avenue Bridge.

Preliminary information from the lab indicates the bones had been there for "well over a year," he said.

Redding Homeless Blog must ask in an area heavely raided and enforced by the Redding Police Department and Officers from the California Department of Fish and Game, no offending odors were ever detected ?

Not by law enforcement ? Not by nature hikers ? Not by fisherman ? Not by the homeless ?

Not by members of the Henderson Neighborhood Open Space Group who regularly and ruthlessly patrols the area to turn in homeless camps and destroy their basic survival areas without compassion or pity ?


Looks like the Record Searchlight is a financial donor to the Community Creek Action Group which yearly destroys and unapologetically clears vegetation and life sustaining homeless camps in the Henderson Open Space without offering a compassionate alternative to the multitudes of homeless they displace. How about the Good News Rescue Mission ? No. California Faith Community Nursing ? Rotary Club of Redding ? How about Redding Electric Utilities which is a major contributor to homelessness in our area ? Simpson University students ? Yep all of them. Soon you can add Bethel Church.

In an exclusive preliminary investigation and interviews of homeless, Redding Homeless Blog has discovered some interesting and shocking details.

In fact the area where the human remains were discovered is inhabited by several close knit camps of long time cronic homeless individuals. Nobody in the area ever remembers the smell of a human body rotting there.

More disturbing still it has been reported that one of the long time homeless of the area witnessed the placement of the board over which the skeletal remains were later found. Unaware several used the board for a seat, oblivious to the grisly contents underneath.

As you can imagine they are now in fear for their life. Still more shocking still, they have not been interviewed by any members of the Redding Police Department.

It has also been reported to Redding Homeless Blog by members of the Redding Fire Department that several fires over the years were set in known homeless camps by people other than homeless trying to garner hatred for our local homeless polulation. Was the deposit of these human remains a step up from that playbook in order to cast aspersions on the homeless here as well ?
