Redding Police Violate Harass Homeless Advocate Taking Their Picture Redding California police officer follows me almost all the way home after talking to 4 officers and two cars jacking up one homeless man sleeping on  Pine St sidewalk in front of downtown restaurant. After chatting briefly at intersection first officer in pic is already walking to his car to follow me. Two blocks from my home he lights me up and best he can come up with is no back license plate light.  Intimidation, retaliation and fear... A pattern of repeated harassment, where are your bodycams? Did Redding Police union threaten then chief Paoletti with a vote of no confidence some time back if he insisted on officers wearing bodycams? In almost 15 years as a Redding California homeless advocate I have never seen such a radical pre cleansing and removal of homeless before a Point in Time survey as I have today. The downtown covered parking lot for months had dozens of homeless inside... Gone. The Shasta County Library homeless population whittled down to almost nothing. Henderson open space cleaned and swept of homeless several times just prior to Point in Time survey. In the last couple of mornings few homeless could be seen and those who were downtown wandering in the rain dragging or covered by a wet blanket rousted im sure by Redding Police . Most homeless that do remain and are hiding refuse to participate knowing if they do afterwards their camps will be raided and KRCR News Channel 7 will be right there as well to take all multitudes of garbage pictures one can imagine.  . Redding and Shasta County is suffering a homeless shelter crisis, and its police have been dispensing "cruel and unusual punishment" for years writing tickets for homeless "camping." Martin v. City of Boise says cities can’t punish the homeless for sleeping outdoors or on public property. In Redding the storm of fellow human hatred intensifies, created by the dark dynamics of those presumed to be in control, and ignored by those presumed to be in spiritual authority. With the Good News Rescue Mission being the ONLY nightime rescue mission shelter in all of Redding and Shasta County California this fact, if reported... this crucial Tweet... if turned into a news story would rally the generous and caring community Redding has become, and positive steps surely would be taken that would change the dynamics of homelessness in our community, and quite possibly SAVE LIVES . Its shocking that “Redding’s Good News Rescue Mission turned away 500 people last year.” Especially since City Council member has heard threats of baseball bats against homeless and their camps. Redding California city council person Missy McArthur receives messages from vigilantes wanting to go out into the homeless camps and send them a message with baseball bats. Im getting calls, emails, and on – the street comments about this No.1 issue. Things like : “Let’s take some bats and show transients we don’t want them here.” How does Redding California Police Chief Robert Paoletti respond ? Redding Police release map! It appears this Christmas season the holiday sentiments  "peace on earth goodwill towards men" we wish to one another does not include our everyday neighbors the poor and homeless we see languishing up and down our streets as if trapped in some kind of modern day World War 2 Bataan "forced" death march. On October 17, 2006 the Redding California Police Chief, the Fire Chief , and Dave Honey of the Good News Rescue Mission all spoke in favor of at the City of Redding Council meeting amending Redding Municipal Code Chapter 10-40 Unlawful Camping making it a possible misdemeanor punishable by up to a 1000 dollar fine and/or 6 months in jail for the homeless crime of sleeping or keeping warm by a campfire anywhere in the city limits effectively criminalizing homelessness.  Why do homeless need SAFE GROUND ?
