Support Redding City Council Kristen Schreder - Say NO to Take Back Redding Recall Efforts !

Why would a group called Take Back Redding or what seems like the same group Shasta Support Services want to recall a Redding City Councilperson who has went far and above any of her colleagues on the council ever have past or present?  Kristen Schreder , Redding city council should be commended not recalled for her POSITIVE SOLUTIONS TO THE HOMELESS POPULATION OF OUR COMMUNITY.

"Recall targets two Redding City Council members"

"Take Back Redding member Dale Ball announces the recall of Redding City Council members Francie Sullivan and Kristen Schreder." -  Sean Longoria, Redding Record Searchlight

Solutions that certainly respect the civil and constitutional rights of the homeless which guard against civil liabilities that leave municipalities penniless. Her desire for Shasta County to join in the conversation of solutions is spot on. And certainly her desires expand to much more than a one tool box fix ( RPD Criminalization) which many cities have come to discover NEVER WORKS!, and is unfair to Redding Police Dept members. It has been said " That if you are not part of the solution you are part of the problem", and I think it is becoming quite clear that individuals and groups demonize, ostracize, and attempt to recall those who come with honest, positive intentions. If you attack plans to build a homeless day center, or a village of tiny homes, or a homeless tent camp then you are indeed part of the problem.... Who does the vetting of Take Back Redding / Shasta Support Services members ? Why would they be allowed to establish relationships and trust to go into and discover homeless camp areas to do the Point in time homeless survey here then later Shasta Support Services members are quoted in local news media saying "they call law enforcement if they come across any homeless activity."?

"Shasta Support Service co-founder Dale Ball (center) consults with volunteers near the end of the work day. He and his neighbor, Michael Roberts, joined in Redding-area cleanups more than a year ago before forming their own community service group, Shasta Support Service." - Richard DuPertuis, a NewsCafe.com

Meetings and Committees do not help the homeless situation. Stop spending money and do something!

That's why everyone's so mad. Endless and useless 'TALK'....nothing ever gets done.

Actually much has been done and to get programs implemented to offer a hand up to those who have fallen is what's needed now. This does not support crime or attract more problems to our area. It puts people back to work who are able and houses them in transitional and permanent housing that they must work to benefit from it unless too disabled too.

With a dedicated tax to public safety and to help sustain a new or expanded county jail and its rehab programs our city and county can rise up to be a county of producers that succeed in all they do.

Wrong, we need a police force that makes Redding uncomfortable to the homeless population, the reason Redding has so many homeless is we make Redding a safe haven for them! There are programs in place for out of work citizens, those who need a hand up...but the majority here do not want that help. They are Chronic homeless..,only when we make Redding an uncomfortable city for the homeless will the tide turn!

Absolutely! Enough already! Goes back to the thought of not feeding wild animals... they become dependant & forget how to fend for themselves.

These are PEOPLE. NOT ANIMALS. Humans. Some are broke and need fixing. If not fixable you gonna shoot them? Luckily most just need a little help. As many as 10 million families lost their homes to foreclosure during the housing crisis. As a result, nearly all of them had to move. Some slipped through the cracks and became homeless. That 2008 Housing Crisis Displaced More Americans than the 1930s Dust Bowl!

We are one more bank collapse or "bubble burst" away. How secure is your job? With technology taking over you best hope you married into money or a job because if the Govt. passed all the laws the angry uninformed chant for you could be in jail as well.

What was this comment in reference to? Pretty out there to me. A dedicated tax??? Why???

A county parcel tax dedicated to jail beds and the funds to operate the jail is part of the plan being presented and implemented by Take Back Redding

Take Back Redding: I am a member, not an administrator. We are basically a group of people that have a common goal. Many of us grew up in Redding and have raised families here. We love our city, and want it back.
WE WANT SAFE PUBIC SPACES. We do not want to remove playground equipment so that drug addicts can take over parks and discard their dirty needles on the ground. We are sick of our trails being used to prey on people. We are tired of not being able to walk into a store without being accosted by homeless people aggressively approaching us with our children, and intimidating them.
WE WANT PRO BUSINESS POLICIES We want safe spaces for businesses. We want policies that will help grow the economy and get more people off the streets. We want Planning to streamline the building approval process and lower fees and faster processing times. Possibly allow higher density, smaller lots creating MORE AFFORDABLE HOUSING options in the City. We are sick of wasting money on Stillwater and need a new vision that works with what Redding has not pipe dreams. Maybe get back to tourism, exploiting the river
For those that think we are part of Bethel, we aren't. In fact, we wonder WHY isn't a housing component part of the BSSM impact plan? They are pushing rents up for all the citizens and contributing to homelessness! THEY NEED DORMS.
We want a City Council and Manager with ideas, solutions, and vision for the City that has real goals. They need priorities. WE want them to LISTEN to the concerns of the citizens and TAKE ACTION not talk, study, etc. WE WANT CRIMINALS IN PRISON NOT OUR STREETS SLEEPING IN CULVERTS, CAMPING IN THE GREENSPACE and presenting fire hazards, and safety hazards to citizens. KRISTEN NOR FRANCINE have done NOTHING to listen to our concerns or act to solve them. They sit at the podium, roll their eyes, text, and show how insignificant they believe the voters are. IT'S TIME TO ACT TO TAKE BACK OUR CITY, and we need people that have what it takes. REDDING IS IN CRISIS IT CANNOT CONTINUE USING THE SAME POLICIES IT HAS IN THE PAST. Many of us volunteer to help those truly in need, and aren't heartless people against the homeless. We just want true solutions to the problems that cause homelessness, mental health help, a pro economic growth policy that is based in reality, etc.

Remember my fellow homeless, Shasta Support Services (Dale B., et al) is not our friend hence his involvement in the recall of Kristen.

WORD is out the Good News rescue mission attracts people to our area, don't feed the homeless it interferes with their natural migration to areas that feed the homeless, the issue is not infirmed homeless that cannot take care of themselves, the problem is grown physically able bodies people who don't want to work for anything, the generation of participation trophy's and parents who make excuses for bad behavior instead of holding Johnny accountable. Why work when I can get money to stay out of work and why pay rent when I can have a riverfront view and leave my garbage where it may fall, other people will come and clean up my crap and be demonized because they don't want people trashing their area... Doug and Dolly Christian, mindispower, what is your address and we shall send them over to trash where you live.. real shocker that Chris and his minions don't want any homeless to be held accountable... if you had any honor homeless you would be out there cleaning up your own crap so others don't have to!! you have created this trashed bed... you lie in it don't blame meth induced insanity or laziness on your inability to be responsible. https://twitter.com/ReddingHomeless

Question to Kristen, did you vote yes for the raises for city managers & upper personell? Would you take a walk with me from Athens, up Placer, North on Buenaventura, down Eureka Way, down Market to South St, back to Athens? I used to do this walk a few times a week 4 yrs ago. Started being followed, heckled, cursed at since I ignored street people. Bicyclists trying to hit my dog or brush againt me. Poop near Tri Counties Bank. Many areas smell like urine. I am 62 yr old female & can't walk in my community safely with my 30# dog anylonger. I cant afford to live in a fancy neighborhood & have all the bells & whistle alarms & cameras like you.... Do I want change? YES, I do. Is it going to start with you & Francie, yep, looks like it. You needed to act first to increase policing our city first, not given raises. Other cities in So CA have cut back management wages, streamlined upper management. You closed your eyes & heart to your constituents. It is not going to stop with you, this community is fed up. Bye bye.

This recall is shrouded in disguised dislike for the homeless and those who dare to help them. This too shall not pass hence the secrecy they adopt regarding how many signatures they have.

Except, that's not really what's happening. People lost their homes, did they lose their jobs too? Unable to afford rent or low cost housing? What I do see is rampant drug use, especially meth. The housing bubble might have been a factor in homelessness but it's not the sole cause.
